Peer Review

When we discussed peer review and how there are different methods for our classrooms, I did not bring up what is known as the double-blind group peer review. The blind portion of the activity is that there are no names on the report (can be from previous years for practice).

Using the rubric, students discuss "what counts" as high quality writing and they are able to form a consensus during the process. This method also stops students from checking off "Yes" for each criterion on the peer review guide. Students also become better readers, able to determine central ideas or conclusions of a text and determine specific meaning.

Rubric

Once the peer review process is complete, the final stage is to revise based on the suggestions offered by classmates. If the report met all of the requirements, students turn in the peer-reviewed rough draft and the peer review guide.
