Anytime I have a Canon camera that needs to be replaced, I call 'contact us' with Canon.com (800.okcanon) and ask for the Canon Loyalty Program.
Once connected to the right department, the person from Canon will tell me what is available to purchase. It is a refurbished one, but at a much discounted priced. Every time that I have used this program, I have upgraded to a better camera at a great price. The last time, I traded a Rebel for a 60D for less than $500.
They also work with me and the financial process that I need to do for processing through the school. Then, when they get the check from my school, they send out the camera body and packaging for me to send the broken camera to them. They only take the body, I keep the lens.

Thanks for sharing this program with us Linda. I normally order Nikon cameras. I will check with Nikon and see if they offer a loyalty program. I am sure they do because canon does.

This is one of the many great ideas that I heard while I was at the institute just from other advisers. I was eating at Taylor Place when you shared this, and I'm fairly certain I would've forgotten this if you hadn't done the blog. Yay! Thanks to you for this. I know I've got a camera (or two) to trade in and I'm pretty certain my yearbook adviser and media center specialist do. Resources and connections- more reasons this institute has been so valuable!
